Frequently asked questions


  • Q. I received a letter and a list of recommendations following the inspector’s visit. Now that I have taken action with respect to the recommendations, what else do I have to do?
  • A. You must sign and date the recommendation sheet, at the bottom of the page, and return it in the envelope provided for that purpose.
  • Q. Taking action on all the recommendations listed on the sheet has been unfeasible. What do I have to do?
  • A. You must explain why you have not taken action on the recommendations in question (see examples below), and write the date at which you intend to do so. You must also indicate what recommendations have been implemented or those you will be able to implement before the deadline indicated on the recommendation sheet.

    *Examples: Cottage closed until the month of… Outdoor repairs (siding, roof, handrails, guard railing) – cannot be performed in winter. Repairs, renovation or construction underway – End of work: (indicate date)

  • Q. I disagree with the recommendations. What do I have to do?
  • A. You must explain the reasons for your disagreement on the recommendation sheet. Then sign the sheet and return it in the envelope provided for that purpose. If you prefer, you can contact your insurance representative to discuss the matter.
  • Q. I need additional information to implement all the recommendations. What do I have to do?
  • A. Consult our website (www.inspectiongamma.ca), under the Information tab.
  • Q. Do I have to engage the services of a professional to execute the work?
  • A. For electrical, plumbing or heating (fuel, natural gas, wood) work, you are required to engage the services of a licensed professional. You must return the recommendation sheet with a copy of the work performance report or the work estimate.
  • Q. I just can’t find a specialist in my area. Can you suggest one?
  • A. We cannot provide you with the name of specialists for reasons of conflict of interest. However we suggest that you check in the Yellow Pages or on the Internet.
  • Q. I just can’t find a specialist who is willing to perform the work or attest the compliance of an installation. What do I have to do?
  • A. Specify the actions you have taken so far and the reasons the specialists in question have given you.

    Si vous avez reçu des recommandations ayant trait à un appareil de chauffage au bois que vous n’utilisez pas, indiquez-le et précisez s’il doit être condamné ou débranché. Ensuite, retournez la feuille de recommandation dans l’enveloppe qui vous a été fournie.
